Ever noticed a medicine's price jump between visits to the pharmacy? It's not arbitrary — Pakistan has a formal drug pricing framework.
Maximum Retail Price (MRP)
Every registered medicine has a government-approved Maximum Retail Price. Pharmacies are not permitted to charge above this printed price.
Annual and case-by-case revisions
Pricing policy allows for periodic adjustments tied to inflation indices, as well as case-by-case revision requests from manufacturers reviewed by the regulator.
What you can do
If a pharmacy charges more than the price printed on the pack, that's worth questioning — the printed MRP is what you're entitled to pay.
