Composition
Each chewable tablet contains: Famotidine U.S.P 10 mg, Calcium Carbonate U.S.P 800 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide U.S.P 165 mg
Indications & Dosage
Prevention and relief from daytime and night-time heartburn, acid indigestion and upset or sour stomach due to excess stomach acid: Adults and Children 12 yrs: One chewable tab after meal, if symptoms return, another tab may be given; max two tablets in 24 hours; max duration of treatment 14 days. If symptoms continue for more than 14 days, consult physician
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to famotidine or other H2 antagonists, calcium carbonatc, magnesium hydroxide, or any component of the formulation
Precautions
Patients with kidney disease, heartburn over 3 months, heartburn with light-headedness, sweating, or dizziness or chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath; consult physician. Do not take within 2 hours of another medicine because the effectiveness of the other medicine may be altered. Do not swallow tablet whole, chew tablet completely.
Interactions
Antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline, minocycline),quinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprotloxacin, levo floxacm), thyroid medicine, calcium channel blockers (e.g. diltiazem, verapamil), quinidine, delavirdine, digoxin, sodium polystyrene sulfonate.
Side Effects
Headache, diarrhea, constipation, or stomach cramps, vomiting, black stools, yellowing eyes or skin. Rare: Allergic reaction include: itching, swelling, trouble breathing.
