Composition
Cap: Ferric Maltol 30 mg
Indications & Dosage
Iron deficiency Anaemia: Adults: 30 mg twice daily, continued until iron stores are replenished; usual duration at least 12 weeks.
Contraindications
Exacerbation of inflammatory bowel disease, haemochromatosis, inflammatory bowel disease with haemoglobin less than 9.5 g/dL, iron overload syndromes, repeated blood transfusions.
Precautions
GI disorder, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal stricture.
Interactions
Tetracycline, penicillamines, antacids.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, GI upset, staining of teeth, dark stool, epigastric discomfort, Headache, joint stiffness, pain in extremity, skin reactions, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, thirst.
