Composition
Inj100 mg/250 mg/500 mg/1 gm: Citicoline 100 mg/250 mg/500 mg/1 gm. Drop/Syp: Per ml: Citicoline 100 mg (as sodium salt). Tab: Citicoline 500 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Treatment of neuropsychological disorders of degenerative or vasculocere bralaetiology, cardiac stroke, head trauma, ischaemic heart disease, paralysis and adjunct in Parkinsons disease: BY IM OR SLOW IV INJ OR IV INF: Adults: 1 gm-2 gm daily IM or slow IV or IV INF (INF rate 40-60 drops/min), for 4 weeks. ORAL: Adults: 600-2000 mg daily. Children ab:ove 12 yrs 100 mg two to three times daily.
Administration
By IM or IV (3-5 min) and IV drip (infusion rate of 40-60 drops/min). Direct IV should be administered very slowly to prevent episodes of hypotension.
Compatibility
Hypertonic glucose solution and all IV isotonicsolns.
Contraindications
Parasympathetic hypertonia, unconsciousness, brain surgery, pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Persistent intracranial haemorrhage, progressive disturbance of consciousness, reduce dose in hepatic and renal impairment
Interactions
Levodopa.
Side Effects
Hypotension, insomnia,, excitement
