Composition
Inj: Surface antigen of influenza virus propagated in eggs and inactivated by formaldehyde; pre-filled syringe of 0.25 mi & 0.5 ml
Indications & Dosage
Annual immunization against seasonal influenza: BY IM INJ: Adult: 0.5 ml for 1 dose Children 6 months-17 years: 0.5 ml for 1 dose; if children did not receive vaccine previously, give second dose after 4 weeks.
Contraindications
Febrile illness, allergy to eggs or poultry, some products are not licensed for use in children under3 years of age and some are for adult only (consult product literature).
Side Effects
Local erythema, fever; malaise. Rare: Epistaxis, febrile convulsions, transient thrombocytopenia, vasculitis (in adults)
