Composition

Tab 75 mg/81 mg/100 mg/150 mg/300 mg/320 mg/500 mg/650 mg: Aspirin 75 mg/81 mg/100 mg/150 mg/300 mg/320 mg/500 mg/650 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Transient Ischaemic Attack/Stroke: Adults: 50-325 mg once daily. Acute Ischaemic Stroke: Adult: 300 mg once daily for 14 days, to be initiated 24 hours after thrombolysis or as soon as possible. Suspected Acute Myocardial Infarction: Adults: 160-162.5 mg once daily as soon as suspect MI. Maintenance: 160-162.5 mg for 30 days post-infarction. Prevention or Recurrent Myocardial Infarction: Adults: 75-325 mg once daily. Following coronary by-pass surgery: Adult: 75-300 mg daily. Mild to moderate pain / Pyrexia: Adults & Children above 12 yr age: 325-1000 mg every 4-6 hr as needed. Max: 4 gm/day.

Contraindications

Active or previous peptic ulceration, bleeding disorders, children under 16 years (risk of Reyes syndrome), aspirin-containing preparations should not be given to children under 16 years, unless specifically indicated, e.g. for Kawasaki disease. Haemophilia, severe cardiac failure, severe renal or hepatic impairment, not recommended for treatment of gout.

Precautions

Allergic disease, anaemia, asthma, dehydration, elderly, G6PD deficiency .avoid during fever or viral infection in children (risk of Reyes syndrome), previous peptic ulceration, thyrotoxicosis, uncontrolled hypertension, history of bronchospasm, aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergies,

Interactions

Caution with concomitant use of drugs that increase risk of bleeding. Oral anticoagulants, heparin, anti platelet agents, fibrinolytics, NSAIDs, uricosuric agents, methotrexate, SSR1s, veniafaxine, corticosteroids, acetazolamide

Pregnancy

Positive evidence of risk; use only when no safer alternative exists for a serious problem.

Lactation

Caution advised or effect undetermined.

Blood disorders, bronchospasm, confuse, gastrointestinal haemorrhage, gastrointestinal irritation, haemorrhage including subconjunctival haemorrhage, vertigo
