Composition
Tab: Ferrous Fumarate 150 mg, folic acid 0.5 mg. Syp: Ferrous gluconate 129.5 mg, vit B1 1 mg, B2 1 mg, B6 1.5 mg, nicotinamide 15 mg, biotin 300 mcg.
Indications & Dosage
Prophylaxis & treatment of iron and folic acid deficiency, anaemias including hypochromic, microcytic and nutritional macrocytic anaemia and anaemia in pregnancy: Tab: Adults: 1 tab daily before meals. Children: Not recommended. Syp: Adults & Children: 1 tsp daily as a supplement; 3-6 tsp daily as therapy for iron deficiency.
Contraindications
Peptic ulcer, regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, Vit B 12 deficiency, paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria, haemosiderosis, haernochromatosis, repeated blood transfusion.
Precautions
1st trimester, history of peptic ulcer, folate dependent tumours.
Interactions
Tetracyclines, antacids, co- trimoxazole, anticonvulsants. penicillamine, chloramphenicol, sulphasalazine, cholestyramine.
