Composition

Sachet: Calcium lactate-gluconate 1 gm, vit C 500 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Hypocalcaemia, chronic calcium deficiency, rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, adjunct in the treatment of severe hyperkalaemia, lead poisoning, fluoride poisoning: BY SLOW IV OR DEEP IM INJ: Adults: 10 ml 1-3 times daily. BY SLOW IV INJ: Children: 5-10 ml a day by slow IV route only. Prevention of pre- and postmenopausal bone demineralization, osteoporosis, allergic conditions, latent tetany, rickets and os-teomalacia, increased calcium demand in growing Children, pregnancy and lactation: Syp: Adults: 45 ml (3 tablespoonful) daily in divided doses, increase up to 75 ml daily. Children 3 ysr: 10-25ml (2-5 tsp) daily in divided doses. 4-12 yr: 30-45 ml (2-3 tablespoonful) daily in divided doses. Fast-growing children may need adult dose. Tab: Adults: 1effervescent tab daily. Children 3-7 yrs: 1/2 effervescent tab daily

Contraindications

Hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, severe renal failure, renal calculi, galactosaemia.

Precautions

Renal impairment, electrolyte imbalance, use syrup in preference to tab. Monitor blood and urinary calcium levels.

Interactions

Cardiac glycosides (inj only), thiazides, tetracy clines, fluoride, calcium channel blockers, vit D.

Side Effects

Diarrhoea. Nausea, flushes, hypotension if IV inj too rapid.
