Composition

Inj: Per 10 ml amp: 1 gm Calcium Gluconate

Indications & Dosage

Hypocalcaemia, chronic calcium deficiency, rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, adjunct in the treatment of severe hyperkalaemia, lead poisoning, fluoride poisoning: BY SLOW IV OR DEEP IM INJ: Adults: 10 ml 1-3 times daily. BY SLOW IV INJ: Children: 5-10 ml a day by slow IV route only.

Contraindications

Hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, severe renal failure, renal calculi, galactosaemia.

Precautions

Renal impairment, electrolyte imbalance, use syrup in preference to tab. Monitor blood and urinary calcium levels.

Interactions

Cardiac glycosides (inj only), thiazides, tetracy clines, fluoride, calcium channel blockers, vit D.

Side Effects

Diarrhoea. Nausea, flushes, hypotension if IV inj too rapid.
