Composition
Tab 50/25 mg: Captopril 50 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg. Tab 25/12.5 mg: Captopril 25 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Tab50/15 mg: Captopril 50 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 15 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Mild to moderate hypertension in patients stabilised on the individual components in the same proportions: Adults: 1 tab daily, max 2 tab daily, using the strength as clinically appropriate. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Aortic stenosis, renal impairment.
Precautions
With renal impairment, collagen vascular disease, immunosuppressant therapy, or leukopenic drugs' monitor white cell count and urinary protein, anaesthesia, diabetes, hepatic impairment, gout.
Interactions
Lithium, sulphonamide-derived drugs, NSAIDs, allopurinol, procainamide, probenecid, immunosuppressants, vasodilators, clonidine, K+ sparing diuretics, K+ supplements, antihypertensives.
Pregnancy
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation
Not recommended.
Side Effects
Pruritus, abdominal pain, altered liver function tests, angioedema, arthralgia, blood disorders, bronchospasm, cholestatic jaundice, constipation, diarrhoea, dizziness, dyspepsia, eosinophilia, fatigue, fulminant hepatic necrosis, haemolytic anaemia, headache hepatic failure, hepatitis, hyperkalaemia, hypoglycaemia, leukocytosis, leucopenia, malaise, myalgia, nausea, neutropenia, pancreatitis, paraesthesia, photosensitivity, positive antinuclear antibody, profound hypotension, renal impairment, rhinitis, serositis, sinusitis, thrombocytopenia, urticaria, vasculitis, vomiting
