Composition

Inj 50 mg: Per ml: Dimenhydrinate 50 mg; 1 ml solution in amp. Liqd 12.5 mg: Per 4 ml: Dimenhydrinate 12.5 mg. Tab 50 mg: Dimenhydrinate 50 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Vertigo, nausea and vomiting, motion sickness: ORAL: Adults: 50-100 mg two or three times daily. Children 1-6 yrs: 12.5-25mg; 7-12 yrs: 25-50 mg; two or three times daily. BY IV OR IM INJ: Adults: 50-100 mg every 4 hr; Children above 1 yr: IM 1.25 mg/kg 4 times daily, max 300 mg/day.

Administration

For IV administration, each ml (50 mg) of solution must be diluted in 10 ml of NaCI 0.9%, injected over a period of 2 min.

Stability

Store at 20C-25C (68F-77F). Protect from light.

Precautions

Patients with narrow angle glaucoma, obstructive disease of the GI or GU tract and in elderly males with possible prostatic hypertrophy, may have hypotensive actions.

Interactions

Hypnotics, sedatives, tranquillizers, antianxiety drugs.

Pregnancy

Not recommended.

Side Effects

Tachycardia, palpitation, urticaria, dryness of mouth, nose and throat, drowsiness, restlessness, excitation, nervousness insomnia, euphoria, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, atirstipation, hypotension, blurred vision, diplopia, vertigo tinnitus, urinary complications, auditory and visual hallucination, cholestatic jaundice(rare).
