Composition
Inj: Per ml: Clemastine 1 mg; 2 ml amp. Syp 0.25 mg: Per 5 ml: Clemastine (as hydrogen fumarate) 0.2,5 mg. Syp 0.5 mg: Per 5 ml: Clemastine (as hydrogen fumarate) 0.5 mg. Tab 1 mg: Clemastine
Indications & Dosage
Symptomatic relief of allergy such as hay fever, urticaria: ORAL: Adult: 1 mg twice daily, increased if necessary up to 6 mg daily. Children 1-3 yrs: 1-2 tsp twice daily; 3-6 yrs: 2 tsp twice daily; 6-12 yrs: 2-4 tsp twice daily. Adjuvant in anaphylactic or anaphylactoid shock and angioneurotic oedema; prevention & treatment of allergic & pseudo-allergic reactions: BY IV INJ: Adults: 1 amp Children: 0.025 mg/kg body-wt ORAL: Adults: 1 tab.
Administration
Administered by IV injection slowly over 2-3 min.
Compatibility
.9% NaCI, glucose 5%.
Contraindications
Acute porphyrias, hypersensitivity, Avoid in severe liver disease; increased risk of coma.
Precautions
Severe renal impairment, epilepsy, prostatic hypertrophy, pyloroduodenal obstruction, susceptibility to angleclosure, glaucoma, urinary retention
Interactions
Alcohol, CNS depressants, MAOIs.

Side Effects
Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, antimuscarinic effects, blurred vision, GI disturbances, psychomotor impairment, urinary retention. Rare: Anaphylaxis, angioedema, angle-closure glaucoma
