Composition
Scalp Sol n/Cream/Oint/Lotion: Clobetasol propionate 0.05% w/vv.
Indications & Dosage
Severe resistant inflammatory skin disorders such as recalcitrant eczemas, Psoriasis: Adult: Apply 1-2 times a day for up to 4 weeks, to be applied thinly, max. 50g of 0.05% preparation per week. Moderate scalp psoriasis: Adult: Apply once daily max. duration of treatment 4 weeks, to be applied thinly then rinsed off after 15 minutes; frequency of application should be reduced after clinical improvement.
Contraindications
Acne, perioral dermatitis, widespread plaque psoriasis, rosacea, bacterial, fungal or viral skin lesions such as impetigo, paronychia, erysipelas, cellulitis, angular cheilitis, erythrasma, treatment of rosacea, peri-oral dermatitis or acne, use on face, groin or axilla
Precautions
Avoid prolonged use, keep away from eyes, under specialist supervision in psoriasis (can result in rebound relapse, development of generalized pustular psoriasis, and local and systemic toxicity). Do not use steroid as sole therapy in psoriasis. Do not use steroids to treat diaper dermatoses in infants. If local irritation develops discontinue use.
Side Effects
Burning, itching, irritation, erythema, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, pruritus, acneiform eruptions, hypo-pigmentation, peri-oral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, thinning of the skin (the originalstructure may never return),worsening of acne and rosacea, skin atrophy, striae, malaria, telangiectasia. Rare: Adrenal suppression, Cushings syndrome
