Composition

Oint/Cream: Per gm: Clobetasol propionate 0.5% w/w, neomycin sulphate 0.5%, nystatin 100,000 units.

Indications & Dosage

Severe inflammatory skin disorders such as eczemas, Psoriasis, Inflammatory dermatoses with bacterial or fungal infection: Adults: Apply sparingly once or twice daily; max 50 gm weekly for max four wk, then review. Children: Same as adult but review weekly.

Contraindications

Acne, perioral dermatitis,potent corticosteroids in widespread plaque psoriasis,rosacea, untreated viral skin lesions

Precautions

Avoid prolonged use, keep away from eyes, under specialist supervision in psoriasis (can result in rebound relapse, development of generalized pustular psoriasis, and local and systemic toxicity). Do not use steroid as sole therapy in psoriasis. Do not use steroids to treat diaper dermatoses in infants. If local irritation develops discontinue use.

Side Effects

Burning, itching, irritation, erythema, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, pruritus, acneiform eruptions, hypo-pigmentation, peri-oral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, thinning of the skin (the original structure may never return), worsening of acne and rosacea, skin atrophy, striae, malaria, telangiectasia. Rare: Adrenal suppression, Cushings syndrome
