Composition
Inj 6 gm: Piperacillin 4 gm, sulbactam 2 gm; powder in vial.
Indications & Dosage
Lower respiratory tract infections, complicated and uncomplicated UTI, intra-abdominal infections, bacterial septicaemia, polymicrobial infectionsand skin infections: BY SLOW IV INJ OR INF: Adults: 6 gm eight hourly. Children: Not recommended.
Precautions
Patients with low K+ reserves, renal failure, hepatic impairment; monitor renal and hepatic function dur-ing prolonged treatment, age above 50 years, serious underlying disease.
Interactions
Probenecid, drugs affecting blood Coagulation and/or thrombocyte function.
Pregnancy
Use only if essential

Side Effects
Skin reactions, allergic reactions, superinfection, GI disturbances.Rare: Pseudomembranous Colitis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis
