Composition

Tab 250 mg/500 mg: Ethamsylate 250 mg/500 mg. Inj 250 mg: Per 2 ml: Ethamsylate 250 mg.Cap 500 mg: Ethamsylate 500 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Haemorrhage, treatment of blood loss in menorrhagia: ORAL: Adults: 500 mg 4 times daily during menstruation. Children: Not recommended. BY IV OR IM INJ: Adults: Pre-surgically1-2 ampoules IV/IM (250-500mg) 1 hr before surgery. Repeat the dosage if necessary. Postsurgically, 1-2 ampoules (250-500mg) every 4-6 hrs as long as the risk of bleeding persists. Emergency cases; according to the severity: 1-2ampoules IV/IM every 4-6 hrs as long as the bleeding risk persists. Local treatment Soak a swab with the contents of one ampoule and apply to haemorrhagic area or in the tooth socket after dental extraction. Children: Not recommended.

Contraindications

Acute porphyria.

Precautions

Exclude structural or histological causes of menorrhagia, or fibroids causing distortion of the uterine cavity, before initiating treatment.
