Composition
Tab 100 mg/200 mg: Modafinil 100 mg/200 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Excessive sleepiness associated with narcolepsy with or without cataplexy: Adult: Initially 200 mg daily in 2 divided doses, dose to be taken in the morning and at noon, alternatively initially 200 mg once daily in the morning, adjusted according to response to 200-400 mg daily in 2 divided doses or once daily. Elderly: Initially 100 mg daily.
Contraindications
Severe or moderate uncontrolled hypertension, arrhythmia, history of left ventricular hypertrophy, ischaemic ECG changes, chest pain, manifestations of mitral valve prolapse associated with CNS stimulants, history of corpulmonale. Use adequate contracep-tion.
Precautions
Severe hepatic or renal failure, history of alcohol abuse, depression, drug abuse, mania and psychosis, possibility of dependence. Patients with major anxiety must be in specialist unit. Monitor BP and heart rate in hypertensive patients.

Oral contraceptives, anticonvulsants.

Anxiety, asthenia, confusion, aggression, depression, diarrhoea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, chest pain, dyspepsia, GI disturbances, headache, palpitation, paraesthesia, sleep disturbances, tachycardia, vasodilatation, visual disturbances, agitation, amnesia, arrhythmia, arthralgia, bradycardia, dry eye, dyskinesia, dysphagia, dyspnea, emotional lability, eosinophilia, epistaxis, glossitis, hypercholesterolaemia, hyperglycaemia, hypertension, hypertonia, hypotension, leucopenia, menstrual disturbances, migraine, mouth ulcers, muscle cramps, myalgia, myasthenia, peripheral oedema, pruritus, rash, reflux, rhinitis, sinusitis, suicidal ideation, sweating, taste disturbance, thirst, tremor, urinary frequency, weight changes. Rare: Hallucinations, mania, psychosis
