Composition
Cap: Tamsulosin hcl 0.4 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): Adults: 0.4 mg daily as a single dose. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Postural hypotension, micturition syncope, severe hepatic impairment
Precautions
Since selective alpha-blockers reduce blood pressure, patients receiving antihypertensive treatment may require reduced dosage and specialist supervision. Caution required in cataract surgery (risk of intra-operative floppy iris syndrome), elderly and in patients with hepatic impairment and renal impairment.
Interactions
Other alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, calcium antagonists.
Side Effects
Angioedema, asthenia, blurred vision, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, erectile disorders, GI disturbances, headache, hypersensitivity reactions, hypotension (notably postural hypotension), intra-operative floppy iris syndrome, oedema, palpitations, priapism, pruritus, rash, rhinitis, syncope, tachycardia
