Composition
Susp: Per 5 ml: Formoterol fumarate 100 mcg. Tab: Formoterol fumarate 80 mcg.
Indications & Dosage
Reversible airways obstruction, Nocturnal asthma, Prophylaxis of exercise-induced bronchospasm, Chronic asthma: Adults: 80 mcg twice daily. Children: 4 mcg/kg daily in 2-3 divided doses; max 160 mcg/day.
Precautions
Severe cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, pulmonary tuberculosis, hypokalaemia, thyrotoxicosis, adrenal suppression and systemic effects on prolong use; monitor adrenal function. Monitor height of children on prolonged therapy. Consider additional steroid therapy during stress or surgery. Withdraw gradually.
Interactions
Beta-blockers, corticosteroids, diuretics, xan-thines, sympathomimetics, MAOls, TCADs, drugs known to prolong QT interval.

Side Effects
Cardiac arrhythmias, palpitations, headache, hypersensitivity reactions, tremor, myalgia, arthralgia, muscle cramp, paradoxical bronchospasm; discontinue immediately.
