Tab 25 mg: Exemestane 25 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Adjuvant treatment of oestrogen-receptor-positive early breast cancer in postmenopausal women following 2-3 years of tamoxifen therapy, advanced breast cancerin postmenopausal women in whom anti-oestrogentherapy has failed: Adult: 25 mg daily after a meal. In early breast cancer, continue treatment until completion of 5 yr combined sequential adjuvant therapy with tamoxifen, or earlier if tumour relapses. In advanced breast cancer continue treatment until subsided. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Pre-menopausal women.
Precautions
Assess LH, FSH and oestradiol level before the treatment, hepatic or renal impairment. Monitor bone mineral density during adjuvant therapy, treat for osteoporosis as appropriate.
Interactions
Drug metabolised by CYP3A4 that have a narrow therapeutic ratio, oestrogen.
Pregnancy
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation
Contraindicated. Discontinue breast-feeding.
Side Effects
Abdominal pain, alopecia, anorexia, constipation, depression, dizziness, dyspepsia, fatigue, headache, hot flushes, insomnia, nausea, rash, sweating, vomiting, asthenia, drowsiness, peripheral oedema. Rare: Leucopenia, thrombocytopenia
