Composition
Syp: Per ml: Citalopram (as hydrochloride) 40 mg. Tab 10 mg/20 mg/40 mg: Citalopram (as hydrobromide) 10 mg/20 mg/40 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Depressive illness: Adult: 20 mg once daily, increased in steps of 20 mg daily if required, dose to be increased at intervals of 3-4 weeks; max. 40 mg per day. Elderly: Tab 10-20 mg once daily; max. 20 mg per day. Panic disorder: Adult: Initially 10 mg daily, increased in steps of 10 mg daily if required, dose to be increased gradually; usual dose 20-30 mg daily; max. 40 mg per day. Elderly: Initially 10 mg daily, increased in steps of 10 mg daily if required, dose to be increased gradually; max. 20 mg per day.
Contraindications
QT-interval prolongation, unstable epilepsy, within 2 weeks of stopping moclobemide
Precautions
Hepatic or severe renal impairment (reduced dose), diabetes, susceptibility to QT-interval prolongation, epilepsy, ECT, mania, risk of bleeding, narrow-angle glaucoma, or history of glaucoma. Monitor for suicidal ideation. Dose increases may be detrimental in patients who develop akathisia. Withdraw gradually.
Interactions
MAOIs, lithium, tryptophan, pimozide, other neuroleptics, St. Johns Wort, other SSRIs, SNRIs, 5HT1 agonists, triptans, other serotonergic drugs.

Side Effects
Aggression, abnormal dreams, taste disturbance, amnesia, bradycardia, confusion, euphoria, haemorrhage, hepatitis, hypokalaemia, impaired concentration, increased salivation, malaise, micturition disorders, migraine, mydriasis, oedema, palpitation, paradoxical increased anxiety during initial treatment of panic disorder (reduce dose), paraesthesia, polyuria, postural hypotension, pruritus, QT-interval prolongation, rhinitis, tachycardia, tinnitus, yawning
