Composition
Inj: Concentrated and purified antiserum (as a globulin solution) from horses which have hyperimmunized with fixed virus. Per ml: 200 IU Conservans: 0.01% thiomersal; 5 ml vial.
Indications & Dosage
Passive prophylaxis of rabies after animal bites or other exposure: BY IM INJ: Adult & Children: 40 IU per kg of body weight, consult product literature.
Contraindications
IgA deficiency, interference with live virus vaccines.
Precautions
Risk factors for thrombotic events or acute renal failure. Monitor for adverse reactions and anaphylactoid reactions during infusion. Exposed person should be immunized simultaneously with a rabies vaccine
Interactions
May interfere with live vaccines to induce an immune response and a suitable interval should separate their administration.
Side Effects
Arthralgia, chills, fever, headache, dizziness, myalgia, muscle spasms, lower back pain, allergic reactions, injection site reactions, anaphylactic reactions, thrornboembolic events, nausea, diarrhoea, Rare: Hypotension, aseptic meningitis, acute renal failure.
