Indications & Dosage
To treat novel viruses including Ebola and COVID-19: ADULT: One the first day of treatment 1800 mg 12 hourly. Followed by 800 mg twice daily for next 10 days. Alternately, one the first day of treatment 1600 mg 12 hourly. Followed by 600 mg twice daily for next 13 days. Novel or re-emerging influenza virus infection (when other anti-influenza virus agents are ineffective): ADULT: One the first day of treatment 1600 mg 12 hourly. Followed by 600 mg twice daily for next 4 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy or suspicion of pregnancy, severe renal or hepatic impairment.
Precautions
Patients with gout and hyperuricemia, symptoms may aggravate Ensure effective contraception during treatment. Ensure close monitoring of full blood count, renal impairment and hepatic impairment; close monitoring required, ensure adequate hydration during treatment.
Interactions
Concomitant use of pyrazinamide, repaglinide, theophylline, Famciclovir, sulindac, Acyclovir

Side Effects
Abdominal pain and discomfort, duodenal ulcer, nausea, vomiting, hepatic dysfunction, haematochezia, gastritis, blood disorder, pneumonia, jaundice, toxic epidermal necrolysis, hyperuricemia, Stevens Johnsons syndrome, asthma, oropharyngeal pain, rhinitis, nasopharyngitis, acute kidney injury, neurological and psychiatric symptoms, colitis haemorrhagic disorder, increased CPK, blood in urine, tonsil, decreased in neutrophil count, dysgeusia, rash, blurr vision, eye pain, vertigo, changes in LFT.
