Composition
Nasal spray: Fluticasone propionate (0.05%)50 mcg per spray; metered dose nasal spray.
Indications & Dosage
Seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial rhinitis: Adults & Children 12 yrs: 2 sprays in each nostril once daily in the morning; maintenance: 1 spray in each nostril once daily, use minimum effective dose. Max 4 sprays in each nostril daily. Children 4-11 yrs: 1 spray in each nostril once daily in the morning; max 2 sprays in each nostril daily.
Precautions
Avoid in pulmonary tuberculosis, avoid after nasal surgery (until healed), avoid in the presence of untreated nasal infections (treat infection first), patients transferred from systemic corticosteroids may experience exacerbation of some symptoms, caution in conditions of stress, trauma, surgery, infection, pregnancy and lactation. Monitor patients for signs of adrenal insufficiency, monitor growth in adolescents in prolong therapy
Interactions
Potent inhibitors of CYP3A4.
Side Effects
Aggression and anxiety (in children), headache, dryness, epistaxis, hypersensitivity reactions, nasal and throat irritation, nasal ulceration, sleep disturbances, smell disturbances, taste disturbances. Rare: Bronchospasm, anaphylaxis
