Tab: Flutamide 250 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Advanced prostate cancer, Metastatic prostate cancer refractory to gonadorelin analogue therapy (monotherapy): Adult: 250 mg 3 times a day.
Precautions
Hepatic impairment; risk of hepatotoxicity. Perform liver function tests, monthly for first 4 months, periodically thereafter and at the first sign or symptom of liver disorder (e.g. pruritus, dark urine, persistent anorexia, jaundice, abdominal pain, unexplained influenza-like symptoms, avoid in acute porphyrias, cardiac disease (oedema reported) fluid retention in patients with cardiac disease.
Interactions
Warfarin, amiodarone, ciprofloxacin, fluvoxamine, ketoconazole, ofloxacin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, rifampicin.
Pregnancy
Positive evidence of risk: Avoid
Lactation
Contraindicated. Discontinue breast-feeding.
Side Effects
Blurred vision, chest pain, cholestatic jaundice, diarrhoea, dizziness, galactorrhoea, gastric pain, gynaecomastia, haemolytic anaemia, headache, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatic injury, hepatic necrosis, hypertension, increased appetite, insomnia, lymphedema, nausea, oedema, pruritus, rash, systemic lupus erythematosus-like syndrome, transaminase abnormalities, vomiting
