AZELASTINE AND FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE · by GETZ
Composition
: Nasal spray: Fluticasone propionate 37.5 mcg and Azelastine hydrochloride 0.5 mcg; metered dose nasal spray.
Indications & Dosage
Seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial rhinitis: Adults & Children 12 yrs: 1 sprays in each nostril twice daily.
Contraindications
Nasal ulcer, nasal surgery, nasal trauma, pregnancy
Precautions
Avoid in pulmonary tuberculosis, glaucoma (until healed), avoid in the presence of untreated nasal infections (treat infection first), patients transferred from systemic corticosteroids may experience exacerbation of some symptoms, caution in conditions of stress, renal impairment and lactation. Monitor patients for signs of adrenal insufficiency, monitor growth in adolescents in prolong therapy
Interactions
Potent inhibitors of CYP3A4, ritonavir, erythromycin, cimetadine
Side Effects
Aggression and anxiety, headache, dryness, epistaxis, hypersensitivity reactions, nasal and throat irritation, nasal ulceration, sleep disturbances, smell disturbances, taste disturbances. Rare: Bronchospasm, anaphylaxis
