Composition
Tab: Norethisterone 10 mg, ethinyloestradiol 0.02 - mg.
Indications & Dosage
Secondary amenorrhoea: Adults (female):After excluding the existence of pregnancy, 1 tab on two consecutive days.
Contraindications
History of, or predisposition to, thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders, cerebrovascular disease, history of pruritus, during pregnancy deteriorating otosclerosis, idiopathic jaundice or pemphigoid gestations (herpes gestations), impaired hepatic excretory function such as Dubin-Johnson & Rotor syndromes, sickle cell anaemia, acute or chronic liver disease, jaundice, porphyria, disorders of lipid metabolism, Oestrogen carcinomas, endometriosis, undiagnosed genital bleeding, pregnancy, lactation.
Precautions
Hypertension, myocardial or renal disease, asthma, varicose veins, epilepsy, chloasma, uterine fibro-myomata. Examine BP pelvic organs & breasts before & regularly during treatment.Treatment should not be carried out until at least 8 weeks have elapsed since the last menstruation and the existence of pregnancy has been ruled out
Interactions
Diuretics, antihypertensives, liver enzyme inducing drugs.
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, weight gain, breast tenderness & enlargement, withdrawal bleeding, sodium retention with oedema, liver function disorders, jaundice, rashes, chloasma, headache, endometrial carcinoma in postmenopausal women.
