Composition
Inj: Pegaptanib (as sodium salt) 300 mcg vial; solu-tion for intravitreal injection.
Indications & Dosage
Treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration: BY INTRAVITREAL INJ: Adult: 300 mcg every 6 weeks, to be administered into the affected eye, review treatment if no benefit after 2 consecutive injections.
Contraindications
Severe intra-ocular inflammation, ocular or periocular infection
Precautions
Risk of arterial thromboembolic events and non-ocular haemorrhage following the intravitreal injection of vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors. Endophthalmitis can occur after intravitreal injections; patients should be advised to report any signs of infection immediately. Monitor intra-ocular pressure. Monitor for vitreous haemorrhage and for signs of ocular infection for 2 weeks following injection.

Headache, anterior chamber inflammation, raised intra-ocular, pressure, retinal haemorrhage cataract, conjunctival haemorrhage, conjunctivitis, corneal dystrophy, dry eye, eye discharge, eye irritation, eye pain, flashing lights, local oedema, macular degeneration, mydriasis, periorbitalhaematoma, photophobia, punctate keratitis, rhinorrhea, vitreous disorders, vitreous floaters, aortic aneurysm, asthenopia, blepharitis, chalazion, corneal deposits, eye movement disorder, eyelid ptosis, iritis, nasopharyngitis, occlusion of retinal blood vessels, optic nerve cupping, pupillary disorder, rash, retinal detachment, retinal exudates, vertigo, vitreous haemorrhage
