Composition
Inj 5 mg: Per 3 ml:Tiropramide HCI 5 mg; solution; amp. Tab 100 mg: Tiropramide 100 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Smooth muscles spasm, spasticity, irritable bladder, dysmenorrhea: BY IM OR IV INJ: Adults: 1 amp IM or IV. ORAL: Adults: 1 tab 3 times daily. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Mega colon, circulatory collapse, GI obstructionsmyasthenia gravis (but may be used to decrease muscarinic side-effects of anticholinesterases), paralytic ileus, pyloric stenosis, toxic megacolon, and prostatic enlargement,coma, stupor, hypersensitivity to drug.
Precautions
Downs syndrome, elderly, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, diarrhoea,acute myocardial infarction, hypertension, ulcerative colitis, autonomic neuropathy,conditionscharacterized by tachycardia, pyrexia, and in individuals susceptible to angle-closure glaucoma.
Interactions
Amantadine, atenolol, digoxin, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants.
Pregnancy
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation
Contraindicated or not recommended.-
Side Effects
Constipation, transient bradycardia (followed by tachycardia, palpitation and arrhythmias), reduced bronchial secretions,photo-phobia, dry mouth urinary urgency and retention, dilatation of the pupils with loss of accommodation, , flushing and dryness of the skin, confusion (particularly in the elderly), nausea, vomiting, and giddiness. Rare: Angle-closure glaucoma may occur.
