Composition
Susp: Per 5 ml: Aluminium hydroxide 215 mg, magnesium hydroxide 80 mg, simethicone 25 mg. Forte Susp:Aluminium hydroxide 400 mg, magnesium hydroxide 400 mg, simethicone 30 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Hyperacidity, distension, flatulence, heartburn, dyspepsia, hiatus hernia, peptic ulcer: Adults: 1-2 tsp between meals and at bed time. Children 5-12 yrs: half adult dose. Above 12 yr: same as adult dose.
Precautions
Renal impairment, patients on low phosphate diet, hepatic impairment. Antacids may damage enteric coatings designed to prevent dissolution in the stomach.
Interactions
May alter absorption of tetracyclines, Fe salts, H2-receptor antagonists, INH, warfarin, quinidine.
Side Effects
Vomiting, nausea, Diarrhoea, constipation, intestinal obstruction (large dose).
