MYDOLATE

TROPICAMIDE, EYE · by ETHICAL

Composition

Eye Drop 0.5%/1%: Tropicamide 0.5%/1%.

Indications & Dosage

Mydriatic and cycloplegic for refraction: Adults & Children: 1 or 2 drops of either strength at 1-5 min intervals. If patient not examined within 30 min an additional drop should be used. Funduscopy: Adult: 1% eye drops to be applied 20 minutes before examination. Children: 0.5% eye drops to be applied 20 minutes before examination.

Contraindications

Narrow angle glaucoma, soft contact lenses.

Precautions

Inflamed eye. To reduce systemic absorption put pressure over lacrimal sac for 1 min after instillation of drops.

Side Effects

Raised intra-ocular pressure, local irritation, hyperaemia, oedema, conjunctivitis; after prolonged use, transient stinging, dry mouth, blurred vision, photophobia, tachycardia, headache, psychotic reactions (rare)
