Composition

Inhaler: Per 3 ml: Levalbuterol as HCI 0.63mg; Inhaler Solution

Indications & Dosage

Bronchospasm with reversible obstructive airway disease: Adults & Children above 12 years: 0.63mg-1.25mg every 8 hours as needed Children upto 4 yrs: 0.31 mg-1.25 mg every 4-6 hours as needed, Children 5-11 yrs: 0.31 mg-0.63 mg every 8 hours as needed. Exacerbations of Asthma: Adults & Children above 12 years: 1.25 mg-2.5 mg every 20 minutes for 3 doses, then 1.25 mg-5 mg every 1-4 hours as needed. Children: 0.075 mg/kg (min dose 1.25 mg) every 20 minutes for 3 doses, then 0.075 mg-015 mg, (max 5 mg) every 1-4 hours as needed.

Precautions

Severe cardiovascular disorders, severe liver cirrhosis, coronary insufficiency, hypertension and cardiac arrhythmia. In patients with convulsive disorders, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes mellitus and patients who are unusually responsive to sympathomimetic amines.

Interactions

Beta-blockers, xanthine derivative, mineral corticoids and diuretic, quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, phenothiazines, MAOIs, tricyclic inhibitors, levodopa, I-thyroxine, oxytocin.
