Composition

Inj: Per ml: Pancuronium bromide 2 mg; 2 ml (4 mg) amp.

Indications & Dosage

Neuromuscular blockade (long duration) adjuvant in surgical anaesthesia during surgery and intubation: BY IV INJ: Adult: Initially 100 mcg/kg, then 20 mcg/kg as required. Neuromuscular blockade (long duration) during intensive care: BY IV INJ: Adult: Initially 100 mcg/kg, initial dose is optional, then 60 mcg/kg every 60-90 minutes. BY IV INJ: Children Neonate: initially 100 mcg/kg, then 50 mcg/kg repeated as necessary, 1 month-18 yr, initially 100 mcg/kg, then 20 mcg/kg repeated as necessary.

Administration

May be administered undiluted by rapid IV injection. it should be administered by a fully qualified anaesthetist. Administration of depolarizing drugs following a non-depolarizing drug is not advisable. Do not mix with other solutions.

Compatibility

Stable in D5NS, D5W, LR, NS.

Stability

Refrigerate, however is stable for up to 6 months at room temperature.

Precautions

Burns, cardiovascular disease, electrolyte and fluid disturbances, hypothermia, myasthenia gravis, neuromuscular disorders. To avoid excessive dosage in obese patients, dose should be calculated on the basis of ideal bodyweight.

Side Effects

Acute myopathy (after prolonged use in intensive care),hypertension, tachycardia, moderate rise of mean arterial pressure may occur, decreases intraocular pressure and induces miosis, cases of localized reactions at the site of injection have been reported.
