Composition
Inj Per amp: Dipyridarnole10 mg. Tab 25 mg/75 mg/100 mg: Dipyridamole 25 mg/75 mg/100 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Prophylaxis of thrombosis of prosthetic heart valves: Adults: Adjunct to oral anticoagulants, 300-600 mg daily in three or four doses before meals. Children: 5 mg/kg body-wt. daily in divided doses. BY IV INJ: Diagnostic only, see literature. Evaluation of coronary heart disease: BY IV INJ: Adults: 0.14 mg/kg/min for 4 min; max dose 60 mg. Myocardial imaging-diagnostic use only: Adult: By IV Inj(consult product literature).
Administration
Administer by IV infusion over 4 min. Thallium-201 should be injected within 5 min following the 4-min infusion of dipyridamole. Dilute in 1:2 ratio with 0.45% NaCI 0.9% NaCl or 5% dextrose for a total volume of approximately 20 to 50 ml. Infusion of undiluted dipyridamole may cause local irritation. Monitor anti factor Xa activity in patients with body-weight over 90 kg.
Compatibility
Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe or infusion container.
Stability
Store between 15C-25.0 (59'F-77F). Avoid freezing. Protect from light. Retain in carton until time of use. Discard unused portion.
Precautions
Aortic stenosis, coagulation disorders, heart failure, hypotension, left ventricular outflow obstruction, may exacerbate migraine, myasthenia gravis (risk of exacerbation), rapidly worsening angina, recentmyocardial infarction
Interactions
Antacids.Caution with concomitant use of drugs that increase risk of bleeding.
Pregnancy
No evidence of risk in humans.
Lactation
Caution advised or effect undetermined.
Side Effects
Angioedema, dizziness, GI effects, bronchospasm, tachycardia, throbbing headache, hot flushes, thrombocytopenia, urticaria .worsening symptoms of coronary heart disease, hypersensitivity reactions, hypotension, increased bleeding after surgery, increased bleeding during surgery, myalgia.
