Composition
Tab 0.3 mg/ 0.625 mg/1.25 mg: Conjugated oes-trogens 0.3 mg/0.625 mg/1.25 mg.
Indications & Dosage
HRT for Menopausal and postmenopausal symptoms, osteoporosis: Adult (female): 0.625 mg daily for 21 days starting on fifth day of menses if present, or arbitrarily, then 7 tab-free days. See literature. Atrophic vaginitis or urethritis, prostatic carcinoma, palliation of selected cases of breast cancer: Adults (female): Consult product literature Children: Not applicable.
Contraindications
Impaired hepatic excretory function such as Dubin-Johnson & Rotor syndromes, sickle cell anaemia, acute or chronic liver disease, jaundice, porphyria, disorders of lipid metabolism, oestrogen dependent carcinomas, endometriosis, history or factor of predisposition to thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders, cerebrovascular disease, history of pruritus, during pregnancy deteriorating otosclerosis, idiopathic jaundice or pemphigoid gestations (herpes gestations), undiagnosed genital bleeding, pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Hypertension, myocardial or renal disease, asthma, varicose veins, epilepsy, chloasma, uterine fibro-myomata. Examine BR pelvic organs & breasts before ®ularly during treatment (risk of breast and endometrial carcinoma)
Interactions
Diuretics, antihypertensives, liver enzyme inducing drugs.
Side Effects
GI upset, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, breast tenderness and enlargement, breakthrough bleed-ing, headache, dizziness, impaired liver function, cholestatic jaundice, epistaxis, migraine, thromboembolic disorders (consider withdrawal), exacerbation of varicose veins, increased blood pressure, transient erythema, generalized pruritus, lower glucose tolerance, endometrial carcinoma in postmenopausal women.
