Composition

Cap 30 mg/45 mg/75 mg:Oseltamivir phosphate 30 mg/45 mg/75 mg. Susp: Per 5 ml Oseltamivir phosphate 12 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Prevention of influenza: Adult & Children above 13 yrs: 75 mg once daily for 10 days for post-exposure prophylaxis; for up to 6 weeks during an epidemic; Children 1-11 months: 3 mg/kg once daily for 10 days for post-exposure prophylaxis; 1-12 years (body-weight 10-15 kg): 30 mg once dailyfor 10 days for post-exposure prophylaxis; for up to 6 weeks during an epidemic; 1-12 years (body-weight 15-23 kg): 45 mg once daily for 10 days for post-exposure prophylaxis; for up to 6 weeks during an epidemic; (body-weight 23-40 kg): 60 mg once dailyfor 10 days for post-exposure prophylaxis; for up to 6 weeks during an epidemic; (body-weight 40 kg and above): 75 mgonce daily for 10 days for post-exposure prophylaxis; for up to 6 weeks during an epidemic. Treatment of influenza: Adult & Children above 13 yrs: 75 mg twice daily for 5 days. Children 1-11 months: 3 mg/kg; 1-12 years (body-weight 10-15 kg): 30 mg; (body-weight 15-23 kg): 45 mg; (body-weight 23-40 kg): 60 mg; (body-weight 40 kg and above): 75 mg. All doses twice daily for 5 days.

Precautions

Severe renal impairment. Not licensed for use in premature infants.

Side Effects

Abdominal pain, dyspepsia, headache, nausea, vomiting, altered consciousness (usually in children and adolescents), arrhythmias, convulsions, eczema, rash. Rare: GI bleeding, hepatitis, neuropsychiatric disorders (usually in children and adolescents), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, thrombocytopenia, toxic epidermal necrolysis, visual disturbances
