Indications & Dosage
Treatment of corona virus COVID-19: BY IV INJ: Adult: An initial one-time dose of 200 mg; followed by 100 mg per day for 10 days. Children: Less than 40 kg body weight: 5 mg/kg single loading dose followed by 2.5 mg/kg once daily for 10 days.
Administration
Administered by IV infusion over 30-120 mins. Reconstitute powder with 19 ml of SWFI, further dilute in 0.9 % NaCl infusion bag
Compatibility
Stable in SWFI and NS
Stability
Stability of diluted solution at room temperature (25 C) for 4 hours and at refrigeration temperature (4 C) is 24 hrs.
Contraindications
Cardiac failure, severe renal or hepatic impairment
Precautions
Ensure effective contraception during treatment. Ensure close monitoring of full blood count, renal impairment and hepatic impairment; close monitoring required, ensure adequate hydration during intravenous administration.
Interactions
Chloroquine phosphate, Hydroxychloroquine suphate
Pregnancy
Avoid, use only when no safer alternative exists for a serious problem.
Lactation
Contraindicated
Side Effects
GI disturbance, alopecia, angina, anorexia, anxiety, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, increased liver enzyme levels that may indicate possible liver damage.
