Composition
Tab 5 mg/150 mg: Risedronate sodium 5 mg/150 mg.OW (Once Weekly) Tab 35 mg: Risedronate sodium 35 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Pagets disease of bone: Adult: 30 mg daily for 2 months, course may be repeated if necessary after at least 2 months. Treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis to reduce risk of vertebral or hip fractures: Adult (female): 5 mg daily, alternatively 35 mg onceweekly. Prevention of osteoporosis (including corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis) in postmenopausal women: Adult (female): 5 mg daily. Treatment of osteoporosis in men at high risk of fractures: Adult (male): 35 mg once weekly.
Contraindications
Hypocalcaemia, severe renal impairment.
Precautions
Atypical femoral fractures, oesophageal abnormalities, other factors which delay transit oremptying (e.g. stricture or achalasia), disturbance of bone and mineral metabolism. Maintain adequate dietary intake of calcium and vit D.
Interactions
Calcium, magnesium, iron or aluminium salts.

Side Effects
Abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, headache, musculoskeletal pain, nausea, duodenitis, dysphagia, gastritis, oesophageal ulcer, oesophagitis, uveitis, cutaneous vasculitis, gastroduodenal ulceration, hair loss, hepatic disorders, osteonecrosis of the jaw, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis. Rare Atypical femoral fractures, glossitis, oesophageal stricture
