Composition
Per sachet: Strontium Ranelate 2 gm
Indications & Dosage
Treatment of severe osteoporosis in postmenopausal women or men at high risk of fracture for whom other treatments are contraindicated or not tolerated: Adult: 2 g (one sachet) once daily, dose to be taken in water, preferably at bedtime. Avoid food for 2 hr before and after taking granules, particularly calcium containing products, avoid concomitant antacids containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide for 2 hr after taking granules. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Cerebrovascular disease, current or previous venous thromboembolic event, ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, temporary or prolonged immobilization, uncontrolled hypertension
Precautions
Predisposition to thromboembolism; interferes with colorimetric measurements of calcium in blood and urine. Predisposition to cardiovascular disease; assess risk before and every 6-12 months during treatment. Severe allergic reactions including drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), have been reported.

Antibacterials.
Pregnancy
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation
Contraindicated or not recommended.
Side Effects
Abdominal pain, alopecia, bone marrow suppression, constipation, dermatitis, diarrhoea, eczema, headache, myocardial infarction, nausea, dyspepsia, flatulence, gastro-oesophageal reflux, peripheral oedema, stomatitis, vomiting, venous thromboembolism. Rare: Angioedema, hypersensitivity reactions, pruritus, rash, urticaria
