Composition

Cap 75 mg/150 mg/300 mg: Nizatidine 75 mg/150 mg/300 mg. Inj: Per ml: Nizatidine 25 mg; in 4 ml.

Indications & Dosage

Benign gastric, duodenal or NSAID-associated ulceration: Adult: 300 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks, dose to be taken in the evening, alternatively 150 mg twice daily for 4-8 weeks; maintenance 150 mg once daily, dose to be taken at night Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease: Adult: 150-300 mg twice daily for up to 12 weeks. Children: Not recommended. BY IV INF: Adults: for short term use in peptic ulcer, by intermittent IV INF over 15 min, 100 mg three times daily, by continuous IV INF, 10 mg per hr; max 480 mg daily, should be given by INF to patients with cardiovascular impairment.

Administration

For intermittent IV infusion, administer over 15 min.

Compatibility

Glucose 5% or NaCI 0.9%.

Precautions

Impaired renal and hepatic function. Monitor patients on long term therapy. Exclude malignant disease before andduring treatment,

Interactions

Oral anticoagulants, phenytoin, theophylline.

Pregnancy

Risk cannot be ruled out.

Lactation

Not recommended.

Side Effects

Sweating, somnolence, urticaria, Diarrhoea, dizziness, rash, hyperuricaemia, nausea, vasculitis, emesis, miosis, lacrimation and salivation and depression.
