Composition
Susp: Per 5 ml: Magnesium hydroxide 400 mg, aluminium hydroxide (equiv to dried gel) 400 mg, simeticone 30 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Reduction of gastric hyperacidity, indigestion relief of bloating, adjunct treatment of peptic ulcer, nervous dyspepsia, and reflux oesophagitis: Susp: Adults: 1 or 2 tsp. Children: Above 6 yr, 1 tsp; below 6 yr, not recommended. To be taken one and three hrs after meals and at bedtime.
Precautions
Renal impairment, patients on low phosphate diet, hepatic impairment. Antacids may damage enteric coatings designed to prevent dissolution in the stomach.
Interactions
May alter absorption of tetracycline, Fe salts, H2-receptor antagonists, INH, warfarin, quinidine.
Side Effects
Vomiting, nausea, Diarrhoea, constipation, intestinal obstruction (large dose).
