Composition

Tab 3 mg/6 mg: Ivermectin 3 mg/6 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Chronic Strongyloides infection: Adult & Children: 15 kg or above body weight: 200 mcg/kg daily for 2 days. Onchocerciasis: Adult & Children: 15 kg or above body weight:150 mcg/kg for 1 dose, retreatment atintervals of 6 to 12 months, depending on symptoms, must be given until the adult worms die out Scabies, in combination with topical drugs, for the treatment of hyperkeratotic scabies that does not respond to topical treatment alone: Adult & Children: 15 kg or above body weight: 200 mcg/kg for 1 dose, further doses of 200 mcg/kg may be required.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ivermectin or any cornponent of the formulation.

Precautions

Pretreatment assessment for low infection is recommended in any patient with significant exposure to endemic areas, cutaneous and/or systemic reactions (Mazzotti reaction) of varying severity including ophthalmological reactions in patients with onchocerciasis. Patients with hyper-reactive onchodermatitis are more likely to experience severe adverse reactions, especially oedema and aggravation of the onchodermatitis. Repeated treatment may be required in immune-compromised patients (e.g. HIV); control of extra intestinal strongyloidiasis may necessitate suppressive (once monthly) therap. Safety and efficacy in children below 15 kg body weight have not been established.

Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, hypotension, peripheral and facial oedema, dizziness, transient tachycardia, hyperthermia, insomnia, somnolence, vertigo, pruritus, rash, eosinophilia, leukopenia, increasedALT/AST, limbitis, myalgia, tremor, weakness, blurred vision, mild conjunctivitis, punctate opacity, urticaria, ECG changes (rare)
