Composition
Tab5 mg/10 mg: Imidapril HCI 5 mg/10 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Essential hypertension: Adult: Initially 5 mg daily taken before food, increased if necessary to10 mg daily, increased at intervals of at least 3 weeks; max.20 mg per day. Elderly: Initially 2.5 mg daily taken before food, increased if necessary to10 mg daily, increased at intervals of at least 3 weeks. Essential hypertension in patients with heart failure, angina or cerebrovascular disease, or in renal or hepatic impairment: Adult: Initially 2.5 mg daily, increased if necessary to 10 mg daily, dose to be taken before food, dose to be increased at intervals of at least 3 weeks; max. 20 mg per day. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Angioedema due to angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, patients who undergo LDL apheresis using dextran cellulose sulphate. Patients who undergo di-alysis with acrylonitrile methallyl sulfonate sodium membrane.
Precautions
Severe renal impairment, severe hypertension, patients on haemodialysis, diuretic therapy, strict dietary salt restriction, patients with serum creatinine level is more than 3 mg/dL, bilateral renal arterial stenosis. Discontinue if angioedema involving swelling of face, tongue, glottis and larynx observed.
Interactions
K+ sparing diuretics or K+ supplements, diuretics, lithium.
Pregnancy
Use only when no safer alternative exists for a serious problem.
Lactation
Not recommended.
Side Effects
Blurred vision, bronchitis, confusion, depression, dry mouth, dyspnea, glossitis, ileus, impotence, sleep disturbances, tinnitus, decrease in erythrocytes, haemoglobin, haematocrit, thrombocytes. Increase in eosinophils, albuminuria, increase in BUN and creatinine, headache, dizziness, palpitation, nausea, vomiting, cough, elevation of GOT, GPT, Al-P, LDH, total bilirubin.
