Composition
Nasal Spray: Flunisolide 0.025%.
Indications & Dosage
Perennial or allergic rhinitis including hay fever: Adults & Children 12 yrs: Initially 2 sprays in each nostril two times daily, if severe, max three times daily, reducing to minimum effective dose. Therapy should be continuous. Children 5-12 yrs: 1 spray in each nostril three times daily.
Contraindications
Untreated nasal or ocular infections
Precautions
Avoid in pulmonary tuberculosis, avoid after nasal surgery (until healed), avoid in the presence of untreated nasal infections (treat infection first), patients transferred from systemic corticosteroids may experience exacerbation of some symptoms, caution in conditions of stress, trauma, surgery, infection, pregnancy and lactation. Monitor patients for signs of adrenal insufficiency, monitor growth in adolescents in prolong therapy
Side Effects
Aggression and anxiety (in children), headache, dryness, epistaxis, hypersensitivity reactions, nasal and throat irritation, nasal ulceration, sleep disturbances, smell disturbances, taste disturbances. Rare: Bronchospasm, anaphylaxis
