Indications & Dosage
Hyperacidity, distension, flatulence, heartburn, dyspepsia, hiatus hernia, peptic ulcer: Plus Tab: Adults: 1-2 tab chewed or sucked after meals or when required. Children above 6 yrs: half adult dose Plus Susp: Adults: 1-2 tsp between meals and at bed time. Children above 12 yrs: same as adult dose; 5-12 yr, half adult dose. Tab: Adults: 1-2 tab chewed or sucked after meals or when required. Children above 6 yrs: half adult dose
Precautions
Renal impairment, patients on low phosphate diet, hepatic impairment. Antacids may damage enteric coatings designed to prevent dissolution in the stomach.
Interactions
May alter absorption of tetracyclines, Fe salts, H2-receptor antagonists, INH, warfarin, quinidine.
Side Effects
Vomiting, nausea, Diarrhoea, constipation, intestinal obstruction (large dose).
