Composition
Cap/Tab: Pipemidic acid 400 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Acute painful infections of the genito-urinary tract (cystitis, pyelitis, cystopyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, post-partum pyelitis, etc.): Adults: 400 mg twice daily at 12 hr intervals, after meals, for at least 10 days. Children 14 yrs and older: same as adults; below 14 yr, not recommended.
Contraindications
Severe renal failure, hypersensitivity, pregnancy
Precautions
While taking pipemidic acid it is advisable not to expose oneself for longer periods to the sun as there is a risk of photosensitivity with a possible consequent bullous dermatitis.
Side Effects
Dizziness, headache, fatigue, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, and abdominal pain. Rare: Leucopenia
