Composition
Tab10/10 mg: Atorvastatin 10 mg, ezetimibe 10 mg.Tab10/40 mg: Atorvastatin 10 mg, ezetimibe 40 mg. Tab20/10 mg: Atorvastatin 20 mg and ezetimibe 10 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Adjunct to diet in primary hypercholesterolaemia for patients not appropriately controlled with a statin alone, Adjunct to diet in homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia: Adults: 1 tab daily using the strength as clinically appropriate. Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications
Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases >3x the upper limit of normal, women of childbearing potential who are not using adequate contraceptive measures.
Precautions
Heart failure, impaired hepatic function; perform liver function tests before initiating treatment & periodically thereafter, history of liver disease, discontinue drug if markedly elevated CPK levels occur or myopathy is diagnosed or suspected, risk factor predisposing to development or renal failure
Interactions
Fibrates, cyclosporin, cholestyramine, colestipol, azole antifungals, niacin, drugs metabolised by cytochrome P450 3A4, digoxin, erythromycin, oral contraceptives, antacids, warfarin.
Pregnancy
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation
Not recommended.
Side Effects
Flushing, fatigue, oedema, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, palpitations, somnolence, Insomnia, headache, GI disturbances, myalgia, asthenia, elevated ALT and CPK levels.
