Composition
Tab 2.5 mg/5 mg: Zolmitriptan 2.5 mg/5 mg. Nasal Spray 2.5 mg: Zolmitriptan 2.5 mg
Indications & Dosage
Treatment of acute migraine: Adult: 2.5 mg, followed by 2.5 mg after at least 2 hours if required, dose to be taken only if migraine recurs, then increased if necessary to 5 mg, dose to be taken only for subsequent attacks in patients not achieving satisfactory relief with 2.5mg dose; max. 10 mg per day.
Contraindications
Prinzmetals angina, severe hypertension, transient ischaemic attack, ischaemic heart disease, previous, cerebrovascular accident, previous myocardial infarction, uncontrolled hypertension, arrhythmias associated with accessory cardiac conduction pathways, coronary vasospasm, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
Precautions
Hepatic impairment; max dose 5 mg in 24 hrs. Conditions which predispose to coronary artery disease, risk factors of ischaemic attack, elderly, should not be taken within 24 hours of any other 5HT1-receptor agonist
Interactions
Ergotamine, allow interval of at least 6 hours if taking together. Other serotonin agonists, moclobemide, other MAO-A inhibitors, fluvoxamine, quinolones, cimetidine.
Pregnancy
Avoid unless the potential benefit outweighs the risk.

Side Effects
Abdominal pain, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth, dysphagia, flushing, headache, muscle weakness, myalgia, palpitation, paraesthesia, polyuria, tachycardia, transient increase in blood pressure, urticaria. Rare: Angina, GI infarction, ischaemiccolitis, myocardial infarction, splenic infarction
