Composition
Tab: 16 tab: 17 beta estradiol 2 mg each. 12 tab 2 mg 17 beta estradiol and norethisterone 1 mg each.
Indications & Dosage
Oral contraception: Females of childbearing potential: Consult product literature.
Contraindications
Arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g. angina or myocardial infarction), active thrombophlebitis, history of breast cancer, history or recentvenous thromboembolism, oestrogen-dependent cancer, thrombophilic disorder, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, untreated endometrial hyperplasia, history of pruritus, during pregnancy deteriorating otosclerosis, idiopathic jaundice or pemphigoid gestations (herpes gestations), impaired hepatic excretory function such as Dubin-Johnson & Rotor syndromes, Sickle cell anaemia, acute or chronic liver disease, jaundice, porphyria, disorders of lipid metabolism, endometriosis, pregnancy, lactation.
Precautions
Acute porphyrias, diabetes, history of breast nodules; closelymonitor breast status (risk of breast cancer), history of endometrial hyperplasia; factors predisposing to thromboembolism, history of fibrocystic disease; closely monitor breast status, hypophyseal tumours, increased risk of gall-bladder disease, migraine, presence of antiphospholipid antibodies, prolonged exposure to unopposed oestrogensmay increase risk of developing endometrial cancer, risk factors for oestrogen-dependent tumours, symptoms of endometriosis may be exacerbated, uterine fibroids may increase in size, hypertension, myocardial or renal disease, asthma, varicose veins, epilepsy, chloasma, uterine fibromyomata. Examine BR pelvic organs & breasts before ®ularly during treatment.
Interactions
Diuretics, antihypertensives, liver enzyme inducing drugs.
Side Effects
Abdominal cramps, bloating, altered blood lipids (may lead to pancreatitis, rashes and chloasma), breast enlargement, breast tenderness, cholestatic jaundice, contact lenses may irritate, depression, dizziness, fluid retention, glucose intolerance, headache, leg cramps, migraine, mood changes, nausea, premenstrual-like syndrome, sodium retention, vaginal candidiasis, vomiting, weight changes,
