Composition

Tab: Lisuride hydrogen maleate 0.2 mg.

Indications & Dosage

Parkinsons disease post encephalitic Parkinsonism, Parkinsonism of other genesis: Adult: Initially half a tab (0.1 mg) inthe evening and should be increased by half a tablet weekly until a clinical effect becomes apparent. The daily dose lies between 0.6 mg and 2 mg, divided into 3 to 4 smaller doses. Primary ablactation: Adult (female): 0.2 mg 2-3 times daily for 14 days. Treatment should be initiated, if possible, immediately after delivery or abortion, but certainly within the first 24 hr. Secondary ablactation, mastitis, galactorrhoea, reduction of excessive milk production (post-partum galactostasis): Adult (female):1st day, 0.2 mg in the evening; 2nd day, 0.2 mg midday & evening, 3rd day to max 14th day, 0.2 mg morning, midday, evening. Prolactin-induced infertility of the women, amenorrhoea, hyperprolactinaemic disturbances of libido or potency of man (e.g. secondary to pituitary tumours); premenstrual complaints associated with elevated prolactin levels (e.g. mastodynia), acromegaly: For prescribing details consult product literature.

Contraindications

Severe disorders of arterial circulation in the periphery and heart (coronary failure). In patients with past or present psychosis.

Interactions

Neuroleptics and other dopamine antagonists (e.g. haloperidol, sulpiride, metoclopramide, chlorpromazine). Ergot alkaloids (e.g, methyl ergometrine).

Use with caution; risk of toxicity

Side Effects

Anorexia, anxiety, ataxia, abnormal dreams, nausea, headaches, tiredness, dizziness, dopiness, sweating, decrease of blood pressure, hallucinations, paranoid reactions and states of confusion may occur, in patients with Par-kinsonism.
